Dear Rose # 10 - Maybe this ageing thing ain’t all bad

Rose is an amalgam of us - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who are looking for somewhere they are seen, heard and listened to.

Dear Rose,

I’m definitely not a doctor, but I have some thoughts on middle-aged women’s bodies.

What if the weight gain around the middle is to protect our hips if we fall?

What if we get more aches and pains because, by the time we reach this age, we deserve more rest?

What if hot flushes aren't just hormonal, but a raging internal fire to encourage us to get fired up about the things we believe in?

What if it’s harder for us to see things up close so that we spend more time gazing out at the horizon?

And yes, what if our wrinkles are just a roadmap of everything we’ve loved and everything we’ve survived?

I'm not saying these things aren’t annoying—and sometimes even debilitating—but maybe it’s not all bad.

Love, Em xx

P.S. Also, I might just be delusional.
