Dear Rose # 9 - After-Work Rituals

Rose is an amalgam of us - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who are looking for somewhere they are seen, heard and listened to.

Dear Rose,

This is my new after-work routine:

I change out of my work clothes into my yoga or boxing gear. I lie down in savasana and listen to this meditation. When I teach, I miss out on the benefits of just quietly lying on the floor—it’s quite magical, isn’t it? It certainly helps with my anxiety.

Next, I obsessively watch my fish for 10 minutes or so. It’s so calming and mindful; I’ve definitely become a crazy fish lady.

After that I write to you. I love sharing my thoughts with you, but I also find it so therapeutic. Writing things down gets it out of my head, and sharing it is a way to create community—to know that we aren’t alone in the struggles we have or the emotions we feel.

If I get time I’ll do an errand or chore, and then the best part of the day happens and I go and teach my class.

What a blissful life I lead. I feel so lucky.

What’s your after-work like?

Em xx
