Dear Rose # 70 - What It Takes to Heal: Embracing the Beautiful Cracks of Grief

Rose is an amalgam of us - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who are looking for somewhere they are seen, heard and listened to.

Dear Rose,

On a little wicker table next to my yoga mat in my bedroom is my TBR pile. I never seem to get to it because there’s always a new reservation to pick up from the library.

But there’s one book on the pile that keeps jumping out at me. It’s a book I bought at the beginning of this year when my grief was still acute and my anxiety was sounding its alarm. I know why that Emma bought this book, but I’m not sure that this Emma will ever read it.

The title? What It Takes to Heal.

That Emma bought the book hoping that healing would restore everything back to the way it was. And I don’t want that any more.

I’ve fallen in love with the light that the cracks have let in. I like the golden lacquer that has closed up some of those cracks. I cherish the  mosaic of a person that I’ve become.

Love, Em xx
