Dear Rose # 54 - Documenting the Perfect Moment: Carrot Cake, Cake Forks, and Pure Contentment
Rose is an amalgam of us - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who are looking for somewhere they are seen, heard and listened to.
Dear Rose,
I’m sitting at my dining table drinking coffee from my love-heart cup. I’ve just finished eating a delicious slice of carrot cake with a brand-new cake fork. I’ve never owned cake forks, and I’ve always wanted to.
I’ve been gazing out the window at the expanse of blue sky and nature in front of me, and I’ve been feeling deeply satisfied. It feels like everything in my life in this moment is perfect.
Right now, there’s no pain, no sadness, no regret. The sun is shining, I’m warm and cozy, I have shelter, all my bills are paid, there’s food in the cupboard, and my fish are healthy. I had a great night's sleep and my body feels rested.
I know this moment won’t last—it’s going to be a 13°C maximum and raining in two days' time, I’ll have a crappy sleep soon, and an unexpected expense will pop up—but I thought documenting this one truly perfect moment was worthwhile.
Love, Em xx
