Dear Rose # 15 - Is it Mercury Retrograde, or my tired brain?

Rose is an amalgam of us - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who are looking for somewhere they are seen, heard and listened to.

Dear Rose,

I don’t even know if I believe in astrology—in the planets and all that woo-woo stuff—but it does seem to explain some of the unexplainable things.

This week, Mercury went retrograde. When that happens it’s supposed to send communication, technology, plans, and information into chaos. At work, all the printers went down and our online telephone system stopped working. I went into a meeting room and the screen just wouldn’t work properly. How do you explain all of these things all on one day?

Apparently, the days leading up to Mercury going retrograde can affect communication and plans, too. This week I’ve had more no-shows at my classes than I’ve had in ages. The deeply insecure part of me (the human side) worries I’m just a shit teacher.

But the rational side of me knows it’s all a coincidence that so many no-shows happened this week. No-shows happen all the time!

And the woo-woo part of me thinks it’s all Mercury retrograde.

Maybe it’s a combo of all three. Who knows? It’s life, and I’m going to do my best to not take it personally.

(45 minutes later: got to boxing and thought “great no one is here”. Then I remembered that the class starts at 5.15pm not 5.05pm. Classic Mercury Retrograde. Or is just a tired brain? Haha)

Love, Em xx
