Dear Rose # 45 - The Joy of Getting Older: Radical Presence and Midlife Freedom

Rose is an amalgam of us - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who are looking for somewhere they are seen, heard and listened to.

Dear Rose,

Do you know what I love about getting older?

Not feeling like a loser for staying in on a Saturday night by myself to read a book with the flicker of candlelight and classical music playing in the background.

Understanding that the joy of going to an art workshop is to have fun with the process, learn something new, and be with other amazing women, rather than needing to be the best in the room or being disappointed with the end result.

Feeling extreme gratitude for days that feel perfect—when the sun is shining, my body feels strong and alive, and my smiles reach all the way to my eyes.

Noticing how exquisitely beautiful the world is, despite its complete harshness at times.

Being proud of how far I’ve come, and curious about what could be around the corner.

Love, Em xx
