Dear Rose # 3 - Life is unexpected
Rose is an amalgam of us - women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond who are looking for somewhere they are seen, heard and listened to.
Dear Rose,
Last night before Yoga, one of my longtime students told me she’d been through something huge—all since the last time I saw her, which was only a few weeks ago. It reminded me that life is so friggin' precious because we just don’t know what’s around the corner.
I imagine that throughout this time she thought a lot about her loved ones and her life. I can imagine this strong woman has a lot to be proud of. It reminds me of how important it is for us to take stock of the things we are proud of, the moments we are grateful for, and the people that we love. As we get to our age—I hate to say it—we just don’t know what’s around the corner.
So, in the spirit of that, I wanted to tell you that I’m proud of the community of women I’ve gathered who come to my classes and retreats, some for years and years. I’m grateful for my mum because she’s always been there when I’ve asked for help. And I love just so many people, but I especially loved Sara, who is no longer with us. How lucky was I to have an incredible friend like her!
Then at the end of class, just as we were settled in a restorative pose, a dog came bounding into the hall and tried to give us all kisses. Another reminder that anything can happen, and sometimes it’s glorious.
Love,
Em xx
